As a team leader Hugo feels responsible to deliver results and enable the people in the team to learn and grow. He is always looking for new opportunities in order to add value to new or existing products or services. Through his experience with both specialists and executive level, Hugo has the ability to form bridges and give solid advice that relay to all stakeholders. Due to his work in a research environment Hugo has shown to be able to deliver technical innovative solutions within tight budget constraints.

Hugo Meiland's Experience:

  • head of IT at Faculty of Sciences at Leiden University

    Starting in 2006 I was given two challenges: motivate the team to embrace customer service and increase the value of IT as experienced by the Faculty. The first challenge was met by the introduction of Topdesk as a support tool together with renewed service delivery procedures. The second challenge was met with a technical overhaul concerning the datacenter, network and Windows / Linux back-end, from which new research support could be delivered through IT. This resulted in the participation in the TI-Pharma project, the Cyttron project and the coaching of two Master and Bachelor students, resulting in co-authoring a bio-informatics paper on stress in mice.

    In 2004 I was part of a start-up called AnyWi, which started from the Wireless Leiden Foundation. In this company I was responsible for the technical realisation and support of the inhouse developed mobile embedded systems required for wireless communication in both trucks and inland ships. - ProBiblio, wireless mobile library solution - Mobile inland shipping solution - Mobile aircraft fueling solution

    In 2004 I was asked to join the IT team for chemistry and biochemistry at the Leiden University Faculty of Sciences. I became responsible for the HPC clusters and the introduction and maintenance of a growing number of Linux/FreeBSD based network services like firewalls, web and mail servers.
